Door to the town

The frame of this imposing door shows curious holes at mid height on either side. These would have been used to fix a log in horizontal position so as to close the entrance.

Similarly, it is supposed that the stone circle in the ground would have been used to fix another such log, in vertical position, so as to fully impede any passage.
